When it comes to pet care essentials, the first items any owner should have in their repertoire is a high quality collar and lead.
With this in mind, we worked with our client Merlin to infuse our years of leather crafting experience into their range of British inspired dog collars and leads.

Needless to say, the level of quality worked into our products did not go unnoticed!

Voted best all-leather dog lead by the Independent with a rating of 9/10, here’s what they had to say about the Merlin leads.

"Another well-worth-the-dosh, crème-de-la-crème dog lead, this 1.2m one is made entirely of leather which is instantly obvious from the earthy, slightly sweet and very appealing scent that hits you as soon as you unroll it from its stylish natural cotton bag.

There are plenty of options – two different widths (1.5cm and 2cm) and three colours: navy, ivy and our favourite. maroon, all finished with Old English brass clip and ring. Hand-made in rural Northamptonshire (which, reassuringly, is where the British leather trade originated), it’s a keeper – dare we say even to see you through more than one dog – on account of being double-layered and as hard-wearing as they come. A matching collar (£45, Merlindogs.com) is also available from the company, which was launched in 2021 and was named after the owner’s first dog."

The Leather

Handcrafted by our leather artisans in our Naseby factory, we used vegetable tanned leather from certified Italian tannery Tempesti to create these quality pieces. With a stitched edge design and solid brass hardware, these collars and leads have been created with durability in mind.

The Colours

Utilising a traditonal British colour palette along with the addition of solid buckles and hardware in an Old English Brass finish, creates a design which truly celebrates the brands 'made in England' ethos as well as our own British manufacturing heritage.

The Ethos

We love that all of Merlin's products are authentically made in England. Their leather dog collars and leads were designed and handmade on the benches of our rural Northamptonshire factory - the original home of British leather crafting.
Their recycled pullover dog fleeces have been hand-stitched and finished in Lancashire and their stoneware dog bowls have been thrown on the potter's wheel in Stoke-on-Trent. Both places renowned for their individual craft just like our county.
